No more testing!

At my bi-annual diabetic check last week I was told that it was no longer necessary to test my blood glucose each day unless I had to go on to insulin or I felt unwell. I therefore would not be able to get testing strips and lancets on my repeat prescription. Is this just my surgery introducing yet more cost cutting measures or this is a new initiative?

Unfortunately its getting more and more common, GPs depending on your post code or GP in the practice are saying type 2's don't need to test and no longer issue prescriptions :( , been there and had the T shirt.

It ended up with me in a bit of a mess earlier this year with my BS rising slowly until they were in the 20's. Its a bad thing they are doing and will only lead to a rise in complications as people won't test, can't test or can't afford to buy the test strips.
