Hi,
Are any of you totally insulin dependent because of total pancreas removal?
I had 2 partial pancreatic operations and managed to stay 'pre-diabetic' but following removal of the rest of my pancreas a couple of months ago, obviously I'm dealing with all that entails.
My DNS hasn't met anyone like me before and says 'we'll treat as Type 1 and learn together'. Apart from having to take digestive enzymes because I can't digest fat, is there any real difference?
I'm carb counting and I think I'm getting there, but it seems so all consuming,
Your thoughts will be greatly appreciated.
Jules

Hi and sorry to hear of all the nasty surgeries and health problems you've had to deal with. :(
I know there was a young man who joined here a few months ago who had had a total pancreas removal performed and was now totally Insulin dependant and like you,had to take enzymes for digestion too..I 'THINK' his name was Richard but I'm not sure what his exact username was....I'll rack my brains and see if I can remember what it was as I think he could be of real help and support to you.

My best wishes

Paul
