Hello!

Due to huge belly fat it is very hard to tie laces. There are some silicon elastic no tie shoe 'laces'.

Do they work? What lenght should I buy for shoes that the holes sit 6cm away when I wear them?

Thanks!

Hi,

Get elasticated lace the same diameter to the laces you currenly have for the holes. cut the same legnth as your ordinay laces.
without stretching, lace the shoe & tie.. this may work out cheaper than silicone & more robust? most elastic does come in white. But will work with sports shoes... black elastic can be obtained & look great on a more formal shoe..

Doc Martins maybe trickier? You could get an elasticated sided boot for the oncoming winter or if you prefer boots...?
Sandals & "flip flops" are cunningly engineered so as not to need laces.

Hope this helps.

We had a neighbour that wore clogs that were made out of some non sustainable stuff, no laces needed but they were deep and wide fitting.

He had a big beer gut, and managed to get them on by standing up and wiggle his feet into them.

I have winter boots with elastic laces. I have to admit that when these are tied tight enough for comfort they are too tight to get on to my feet. Havn't tried elastic laces with shoes, though.

Then i would agree that normal shoes need laces, not threads..
When I lived in the UK pre 1970, I used to buy casual shoes (no laces , elastic sides) from the main shoe shop of the time, Dolcis if I remember rightly although I think they went down the gurgler.

The shoes were smart and easy to slip on an off, the soles lasted a long time as well and under £10.00 a pair.

Just Googled them & they still trade online.. First thing i found was a slip on trainer.. Just over 18 quid.

I never looked for shoes when I was last in the UK 1986, but did buy a couple of nice sweaters from M & S.

I mainly wear RM Williams and Blundstone dress boots, they come in various widths, but I do not think they would be in the op's price range.

I'm more a little rock & roll, urban warrior? Mixing in a little Quicksilver, Animal, Howies & Bench? Though i'm not a massive fan of "branding" all over everything.. I don't believe in paying to be a "billboard." ;) :banghead:

I always wanted to get a pair of Doc Martens, but found out that Pope JP2 wore them so gave the idea away.

LOL, I dated a girl over 25 years ago into her DMs..

My mum took me out for a pair as a 12/13 year old in our home city just before a new term started in september. Bumped into a teacher from school.. "Hello" (insert appropriate surname. They always addressed by the surname.) "are you ready for back to school?" "Oh yes." Blurted my mum, " he's got his Doctor Whites!"
... Martens. I muttered. :hilarious:
