OK, here goes!! I recently attended a pain relief centre to do with my treatment for CFS/ME and they decided to conduct an MRI scan to see if any of my problems are being caused by my back. The MRI came back and I went to see the specialist who informed me that I have a paracentral disc protrusion on my lower spine. After discussing this he gave me the report along with a prescription and sent me off on my way. Later I read the report and it also stated that I have a benign hemangioma on the middle of my spine. I was a tad confused as I did not understand what they are so researched them online. I found out that they are basically a kind of tumor. They can be fine but also they can become a problem, having read this I wanted to find out more so went to my doctor. I asked him to explain exactly what this thing is and his description was "it's when blood cells go kinda lumpy" I then said about being worried that it may not stay as it is and I was worried of any problems it may cause. His response....in his words..."if it did become a problem you would know about it as you would be paralyzed" Now maybe its just me but how can he expect me to just walk away and be happy with this. I do suffer with back problems and it hurts where this hemangioma is but I have seen 2 doctors and they both couldn't be bothered and as for the specialist, he didn't even tell me it was there, just gave me the report to read.
