Hi all, newbie here.

Hope I have posted in the correct place?

Firstly I hope you don't mind me posting on here seeing as I do not suffer from Diabetes(or so the blood tests say) but I am looking for advice.

I am a 41 year old female that up until about 2 years ago never had many ailments then in July of last year I got a UTI (water infection), failed my Glaucoma test and have had athletes foot and have constant rashes all over my feet. I am also always tired with no energy. I have since had 6 more UTi's and generally feel unwell all the time. If I don't eat regular meals I get the shakes and have started to get funny tingling sensations in my toes. My Mum was diabetic and my sister (only sibbling) also has just been diagnosed. My doctor took my blood after I had fasted for 14 hours but the resuslts came back clear. I have been diagnosed with something called Rigid Corneas (result of failing Glaucoma test) which I am lead to believe is the start of Glaucoma? Am I just being being paranoid or are all these the symptoms and if so are there any other tests because I am at the doctors all the time these days with all these different ailments?

Thank you for listening and hope you don't think I am being silly.

Hugs - Kate.

hya kate,
i personally would get a blood testing monitor and do some testing of your own, after fasting, b4 meal,2 hrs after for a few days and keep a record, if higher than normal u can show this to your g.p x

Hi,

No question is ever silly, you must be worried or you wouldn't have asked in the first place.

You could request a HBA1c to see your average blood sugar levels over the past 60-90 days, as some of your family have diabetes i think you may know what that is.

It may come back normal, but could show slight elevation.

If your symptoms are still happening you need to rule out diabetes definately but still persue for an answer to why you are experiencing these.

Diabetes symptoms aren't exactly rare, having no energy and feeling tired etc could relate to a number of different things, but i think you were definately right being tested for it as you have family history.

Ask for a HBA1c or any other tests your GP could recommend to completely rule it out. Could be useful to have a complete blood test anyway to see if anything is out of the norm so you can investigate further.

If your symptoms worsen or you feel like any test isn't showing how you feel don't be afraid to question things to get to the bottom of it all.

I personally wouldn't get a meter and test yourself as you could have readings that are perfectly normal but could seem worrying. People without diabetes can fluctuate higher after food and during illness.

good luck
