Non-lancet blood sugar monitors

My blood sugar levels have increased over the past 9 months. I have never tested my blood sugar levels since I was diagnosed 15 years as I am needle-phobic. I am looking to see which people think is the best non-lancet sugar monitoring app out there. I have looked at FreeStyle Libre and dexcom 6 (although not sure the latter is compatible with my phone - a Huaweii). Any recommendations.

Hi, I tried the dexcom g6 for a month (self funded) I have now a libre freestyle from NHS. If money is no object I would go for the dexcom g6 for the following reasons. It uses blue tooth so up dates your phone every five minutes all you need to do is press the home key on your phone and the BG is displayed on the screen. Very useful if driving. With libre you have to hold the phone over the sensor. States it needs to be within 4cm. Mine struggles to read the sensor through my fleece. I also found the graphs easier to read with the dexcom. I would try a starter pack for both and then decide. You will still need to do finger prick tests as with a new sensor results can be out by one unit. The results are always 5 minutes behind the blood as body fluids are monitored. Also the dexcom will alarm if glucose levels go low so you can take action. The libre does not do this.

Thank you - I had looked at the reviews and product specification for both - and was coming down towards the Dexcom6. I'll investigate to make sure that it is compatible with my smartphone. Thanks again

i, I use Libre Freestyle but find the readings on it can be different to my Accu-Chek mobile. I used to panic when Libre said 'LO' but no longer. Manual reading can be anything between 1.6 and 4.6. Libre is great for out and about so I do like it. It's such a small device to carry that I didn't connect it to my phone.

Sensors have something to stick into our skin to read blood- I'm not being facetious, it’s just to find out if the only option one has to read blood with what’s on the market is by sticking something into one’s finger or arm. I'm new to this and I thought sensors read through our skin (yes, I did)which I was so happy to think until I found out that it wasn't so.
