EIther that or I understand even less than I thought
I have type 2 diabetes treated with metformin & gliclazide but also take medications to control heart since I had a by-pass and medication for depression.
The problem I have is a rotten cold and feeling nauseous for which my normal treatment starve it out for 24hrs.I had very little to eat yesterday but kept up all tablets and then started to worry about my glucose level going low (normally varies anywhere between 3.4 to 9.5) so started checking this morning and got a reading of 6.3 so had 2 slices of toast for breakfast - tested at 13:00 with a reading of 5.3 so left out the lunchtime metformin as I wasn't eating any lunch and then again tested at 16:30 and got a reading of 5.9.
So no food since breakfast but readings are going up
What does anybody else do about their tablets if not eating - I don't want to put my levels though the floor by taking them without food intake (my quack is next to useless with questions like this - I'm pretty sure he's trying to hide a lack of specialist diabetes knowledge)
