Hello to all, I just got results my insulin resistant was high 65 normal is 45... still, I am not diabetic my A1c and fasting glucose is normal... Diabetes runs in my family...... mom, 2 sisters, 3 brothers........ I decided NO to get it so I did/do the right things...... 14 years ago a very respectable DR told me to trough out all supplements, eat what i want because i have bad genes and i will be a diabetic in one year!! that was 14 years ago... never went back to him. My question is am already 67 years old play tennis jog ( i call it brisk walking) due to the insulin results, i can become diabetic? what should I do........I dont take any medication.... sorry i just prefer to do the homework with exercises, eat good feed my mind with good thoughts.... How can I reduce insulin resistant ? thanks hope i learn a lot in this forum:)

There is no guaranteed way to permanently reduce insulin resistance. That would effectively mean a "Cure" for many people.

However, we do know that exercise and avoiding excess body fat accumulation are two things that have a strong chance of reducing insulin resistance.

The other approach is to avoid the causes of hyperglycemia as a result of insulin resistance. Many people on this forum choose to restrict or monitor their carbohydrate intake as they find that has significantly positive results on avoiding hyperglycemia. However, it's important to note that other factors (medication, stress, other health conditions, etc) can also contribute to hyperglycemia.

If you're of a normal bodyweight and exercise regularly then you may be one of the unlucky ~20% of people who are of a normal BMI, but have insulin resistance. Lifestyle intervention may have less of an effect on you that others who may be very obese.
