12 years of the same old thing every day. Diagnosed when i was 2 and i am now 14. it all seems to be going wrong - my Hba1c, my thyroid, my control and mostly my emotions towards it. i'm new to Diabetes.co.uk so was just wondering whether its me or am i not alone?

Maybe see the nurse? I've had it 40 years so since I was 7, and it is very boring I agree ! I also have a thyroid problem and other things, and want to scream when doctors say 'you've got this now, it's related to your diabetes'. Anyway, I've always hated seeing the consultant for a telling off, so arranged to see the nurse. What a lovely person and she let me cry, shout, rant for 2 hours !!! We did have a laugh too seems like I'm not alone and it made a huge difference. You're 14 and I remember it's so hard to be different and resentment can make you isolated. Get it off your chest on here or see someone, you've got something that is difficult to cope with so be proud that you manage most of the time. Don't beat yourself up when you need support

Anytime. Ranting is good after all we all need to be told we've done well sometimes, even diabetics x

You are definitely not alone. There are times when I just want to throw all the pills and insulin in the bin!! But find a good diabetic nurse who understands, it will make all the difference. xx

Yeah I agree. We don't need a telling off ! They've often got more understanding of emotions and frustrations than the consultants. Mine has just retired but I'm hoping the next will be good. If you click with a good one you'll feel so much happier x

Hello nims, nope you are not alone and for a teenager no matter how long you have had the condition it is harder to deal with as you have all the teenage hormones to deal with as an added bonus. When the hormones hit you need to fire fight the problem as the higher your number the worse you feel mentally and physically.
Can you have a sit down with your hospital nurse and or consultant with a list of questions as to how to control things whilst going through this phase in life? Remember they are there to help not critise. sp*
You sound like a very mature young lady so I'm sure you asking will help you and them no end to help you through the difficult teenage hormone stage. (They have seen it all before)
Wishing you all the very best.
