Not diabetic, but pre glaucoma

Hi, have recently been tested for diabetes, and was in the healthy range, though only just 41. However been referred by Optician to the hospital for glaucoma tests, and have been asssessed as pre glaucoma. Should I ask for a retest for diabetes?

Glaucoma is an eye condition that can effect simply anyone of any age, (I know of a young child of 6 years old with Glaucoma) and it can effect anyone whether they have diabetes or not, though in the case of someone who has diabetes they are at a greater risk of developing this condition.
Glaucoma frequently takes years of slowly progressing before becoming noticed, though there are exceptions and one form of Glaucoma is known to come on rapidly within days.
I've suffered myself with Glaucoma for many years amongst several other eye problems, so I would advise anyone wheter they are diabetic or not, to get their eyes regularly examined by a competent optromitist, opticion or at a hospital eye clinic following on from a referal.
Glaucoma is held in control by various eye drops, and if found at its earlier stages of development can be treated sucessfully with these eye drops. Don't put off getting you eyes properly examined as damage caused by Glaucoma cannot be repaired.
Incidentally the regular checks that we diabetic get each year in the retinal scanning program is no garanteed way of checking for Glaucoma, and there isn't any substitute for also getting your eyes regularly checked at a properly qualified experienced opticians.

I have diabetes, I have pre glaucoma or/ the need to prevent the possible glaucoma condition. They have no way of knowing if it is related to diabetes or not but, it needs to be prevented or the progresses of it slowed down or stopped altogether.

I am using drops for years and will have to use them all the time, thus am unable to wear contact lenses but, glasses.

I visit the same ophthalmologist in hospital on every 6 months, and sometimes he asks me to visit on a monthly and three monthly basis and further routine tests are carried out, it needs to be continuingly and properly followed up.

There are different types of glaucoma. "Pre-glaucoma" sounds like you probably have early Primary Open Angle Glaucoma (POAG). This is no reason to suspect you may have diabetes.

What may be causing the confusion is that there is another type of glaucoma called neovascular glaucoma. This can develop when someone has advanced diabetic retinopathy and new vessel growth blocks the drainage channels in the eye so that the pressure inside the eye rises.
