Not diagnosed but wondering!!!!!

Hi :wave:

I'm new here and looking for your thoughts on my reading this morning after fasting of 7.6.

At present I am not diagnosed as having diabetes but I have a parent with diabetes and have had gestational diabetes twice. I still test my blood every now and again and as I have been feeling not quite right for some time thought I would do a fasting test.

Any thoughts or advice on my reading?

Hi Jaycee,

I'm no expert but my fasting levels are between 7.2 - 7.9 which I consider to be high as the rest of the day they are under 6. I have put this down to liver dumping and would like them to be lower so in your case perhaps a trip to the doctor might be in order to find out one way or another. Or you could try reducing / cutting out sugar and carbs and see how the readings vary before taking the next step. :)
 
Hi!

I would definately repeat the test and if it's,again,over 7mmol,make an appointment at the Doc's as the criteria for diagnosis is either 2 fasted lab readings over 7mmol or 1 fasted test over 7mmol and the patient is symptomatic(my surgery doesn't use OGTT tests)

Edit to add...I think as you have history of diabetes and some symptoms,make the appointment anyway!

I guess you have both just confirmed what I already know. Tested again 2 hours later and 7.5.

Doc's appointment next on the list.
