Hi All - any suggestions gratefully received.

Haven't been feeling brilliant today - poached egg and a slice of burgen for breakfast, salad and feta cheese with a couple of olives but, all day long I've had to keep going to the loo (loose bowels sorry) then son phoned very upset with girlfriend problems so now I'm upset. Thing is I don't really feel like eating anything else - though I could happily eat a bag of chocolate buttons which wouldn't be a good idea. BG is 5.4 at the mo but not sure what the best thing to do is. Do I force myself to eat something or just let myself settle down a bit? I'm sure some of you have had the same problems so hopefully I can get some advice. Thanks all

I hope you start to feel better soon, tummy, bowel problems are not nice at all. I'm not type 2, but, I would probably wait to see if things esttle down and try and eat something light, maybe scrambled eggs or some light soup. Hopefully another type 2 will be along to help you out. Take care and remember to drink losts of fluids. Best wishes RRB

The meds you're on cant push you into a hypo if you don't eat so if I was you andnot feeling well I probably wouldn't bother with food - maybe keep liquids up tho

Hi Chris, sorry you are feeling rough.

Bovril is good, if you can stomach anything I think a hard boiled egg is good to "bind" the tum a bit. Something else that makes a very soothing drink is Marigold Vegetable Bouillion Powder, comes in a smallish tub and you can get it from Sainsburys, Morrisons etc.
It adds lovely flavour to soups and stews but is really tasty in its own right, just add a spoonful to very hot water, same as Bovril. When I had a tummy virus last year, I kept to clear fluids only for 3 days, all well and good but no proper hot "food" makes you feel even worse..this stuff does the trick nicely.

Hope you feel a bit better soon. :)

Hi. thanks for the advice. I do feel a bit better after having a cup of bovril and thanks for the tip about the Marigold vegetable boullion, I will have a look when I next pop into Sainsbury's . I may try a boiled egg in the morning. Hopefully I will feel better tomorrow although I've still got the son's problem to deal with which does stress me out a bit. Honestly, kids eh! :D

When we were in India we were told to have a SMALL amount of rice (1 tbsp) with 2 tbsp of yogurt (both binding and gives you slow(ish) release energy) and to sip at a little coke. Now I have been diagnosed T2 I would amend the coke to a bit of squah mixed with soda water (bubbles can help combat nausea and squash just to give flavour and a bit of quick energy). It sounds weird but it did work very quickly on several of us.
