If you have no Libre, the advice I received is to finger prick test
- upon waking
- before eating
- when you feel “off”
- before driving and every 2 hours whilst driving
- before exercising
Nope.What about after eating?
Nope.
That is recommended for people with type 2.
As 9 out of 10 people with diabetes have type 2, their advice dominates these forums and makes it difficult to find advice for people with Type 1.
Injected insulin works slower than human body produced insulin so you will be setting yourself up for disappointment if you follow the type 2 post prandial target guidelines.
Be nice to yourself and follow advice for Type 1 as I described above.
I agree ... depending on how tight a control you want to achieve then after meals and after exercise may also be worthwhile. If you have no Libre, the advice I received is to finger prick test

I could not see in your profile what type of diabetic you are either T1 or T2.How often do you test?
The thread has been posted in the Type 1 sub forum.I could not see in your profile what type of diabetic you are either T1 or T2.
As a T2, I do a fasting one first up in the morning.
Then I test before and after meals, this has helped me stop using Metformin and get back in to a prediabetic state.
