Hello people in this forum,
I'm not sure if I should be here as I don't have a diagnosis and am new to this world (48 hours or so new). I have hypertension and am on meds so have to have regular bloods tested......perhaps I should have been more regular as I went about 18 months between tests and then got recalled for a fasting blood test. I called to ask why and they said I had raised blood glucose levels of 12.0 but it might be a one off or because I had eaten etc etc. I went today and had the test after not eating or drinking since 10pm the night before and they took a nice lot of blood from me. They have said the results could take a week or so and I'm not really a patient person so I went and bought one of those prick your finger testers.
I tested straight away without eating or drinking still and it came up as 10.4 - I ate breakfast (toast) and then tested two hours later - 14.3 - again two hours later and it had gone down to 8.8 and I had lunch (chicken and salad baguette) - waited two hours and tested - 13.6 - waited another two hours - 10.5 - ate dinner (quorn sausages, onions, carrots/swede/parsnip mash) - tested final time - 12.0
Looking on different sites this doesn't seem too good. I have also been looking at types and must say, I am a might confused!! I have pancreatitis also - could this be a factor? I know I need to wait for my results but at this moment, waiting a week or so feels an awfully long time!
Opinions/advice???
