I was diagnosed with type 2 over a year ago and it has recently come to light that my old doctor failed to inform me I was prediabetic for over 2 years before and had failed to provided any care after my diagnosis other than sign off a prescription for metformin every month and tell me to lose weight.
I have since moved cities and have a new doctor who has sent me for various check ups and have double my dose as my hba1c test went from 51 to 59 but not sure what that means.
I am currently on 1000mg Metformin twice a day
I have been monitoring my blood sugars for 6 weeks before eating and 2 hours after and I get these rough figures
Before breakfast 5.5-6.8
After breakfast 6.1-8.1
Before lunch 5.6-8
After lunch 7-8.3
Before dinner 6.4-8.3
After dinner 8-9
I had 2 high readings of 13.3 after I took some paracetamol due to period pains and 12.4 after I had a curry with rice and nan bread which I knew I shouldn't have done.
I have also had 2 lows of 3.8 and 3.7 before lunch both stress related.
I am happy with my breakfast numbers but could be lower which I hope will happen with weight loss. Though I think Weetabix with milk and a banana needs to be dropped as that is what is giving me the 8.1 2 hours after as well at the 8 before lunch.
I just feel my numbers after dinner are too high but I just don't know if it is normal for it to be higher later in the day.
Also would waking at 5am + 2.5 hour commute followed by 9 hour office based work and then 2.5 hour commute impact blood sugars for the day or even the week as currently this is my work day 1-2 times a week as those days I am only able to take readings for the evening.
