Not sure what to do....just need someone to talk to...

Basically I have been a bit careless and I think I maybe pregnant...I know it may not seem much but I have wanted a baby for AGES but a lot of things have made me think...no I can't have a baby...these reasons being 1) I am supposed to be having a back operation soon 2) I am hopefully starting a new job very soon! And 3) I worry way too much what others may think...my dad especially!! Oh and my hba1c is only 58 so it needs to ideally be lower...I know it's my decision but I'd appreciate some feedback please...thank you

Hi, I think first you need to buy a pregnancy testing kit and do the test, if it's positive make an appointment with your GP. Please don't worry yourself too much with 'if's', don't panic or you may make yourself very stressed.
It's entirely up to you and the father of your baby, if you are pregnant, about what you want to do next.
Pharmacists and GP's are a good first point of call to discuss your worries and fears.
I do hope you can get confirmation very soon and then go from there.

I agree first thing you need to do is take a test - you could be worrying over nothing! If you are pregnant then you can decide what you want to do! Also 58 equates to about 7.4 I think which if you weren't pregnant is classed as excellent diabetes control! I was advised to wait until they were below 7 before conceiving so it's not like your that far off! Good luck and keep us posted! xxx
 
As the others have said, get yourself a test and go from there. But, don't delay. If you are pregnant and you can't go through with it, then the sooner you do something about it, the better it is likely to be for all concerned, and if you are pregnant and decide to go ahead, you should be getting the close care diabetics need and deserve.

The one thing I would say is, there's never a perfect time to have a child. There'll always be a reason why now isn't quite right. Take that from someone who waited too long. And finally, don't make decisions based on what other people might think. It's your life, body and future.

Thankfully, I've never been in your situation, but had I been, I don't know what I would have done.

Find out today whether you need to really get some thinking done - one way or the other. But if you find out you are not pregnant, commit today's feelings to memory, and use that to influence you to minimise the chances of being in this situation again.

Thank you all for the feedback...I know I need to get a test it's just finding the chance to do so...I will try today....I am quite nervous to be honest! I am kind of hoping I am, as I had a long think last night (with the help of my friend) and came to the decision that deep down I really want this (if I am) and that I can make it work! I also think that maybe it is a sign of fate or whatever that if I find out today...(it's 10 years since my mother died) I feel that if i found out today that it would be a sign to show her I can make her proud even if she isn't here anymore!

Hi, I'm sure your mother would be proud of wharever you do and whatever decisions you make, but try think of yourself first at the moment. Good luck and all the very best.

Well, I'll cross my fingers the test returns the result you really want. If you have decisions to make, whatever you decide, I'm sure your Dad (and your late Mum), deep down, is only concerned that you are happy, healthy and secure. Where men are concerned, nobody will ever be good enough. that's just how it is!

But, if you are pregnant and you decide to move forward with it, then you should also get round to some thinking about your new job. The things you need to think about are different if you are staying with the same company than if you are going to a completely new job, with a new company. If the time comes when you need to be thinking about that, feel free to contact me, by private message if you prefer, and I would be happy to give you a few pointers.

I will do thank you! and I hope so my Dad is one of my main worries as I am his only daughter! lol! Going to get a test soon! Will message then :) x

Bless you, take care and please let us know, and don't worry. He may be angry, he may be disappointed, but love for a child normally overcomes all the negative things. Mistakes happen, we are not, as human beings, perfect at all.

I did a test earlier and it came back negative but I am going to retest in a couple of days to be certain!xx
 
Tested again this morning still negative! So I am set on not being pregnant but spoke with boyfriend last night and we are possibly going to start trying properly in a few months xx

I missed your post last night, and I was wondering about you this morning.

Good luck over the coming months. Even without a pregnancy you have quite a bit to be getting on with. I guess you now have fantastic motivation to work on your HbA1c.

You might still want to book an appt at hospital with the preconception clinic - they can get you started on 5mg of folic acid and give you some help getting your hbac1 lower good luck and keep us posted on your progress! xxx
