Sorry to moan but ......I have type 1 diabetes for about 27 years, I am 6 stone over weight, I am constiptated, suffer from depression, high blood pressure, sleep apenea and hay fever ! I have no energy and I dont know what to do?

I have been married for 12 years and we have two boys 18 and 22, I work full time.

My Mothers main concern is for me to lose weight - I am 41. I am following WW and walking but after two good weeks at this I now feel ill. My BS are quite high, 16 this am.
I just dont know what to do anymore, I want to feel well, I want to be slimmer, I just feel like giving up.

Please help me. xxx

Hi

I also have been type 1 for 27 years, when i had my last child in 2003 i was nearly 3 stone overweight i tried WW and slimming world but it did'nt seem to help so i decided to do it myself by calorie counting and exercise, i would get a pad and write down everything i eat and work out how many calories and fat content i would give myself a calorie target for women they say they sould have 2000 calories a day so i dropped it to 1500 a day, fat content should be 70g a day i dropped it to 30/40g a day i then got myself a Rosemary connerly FAT ATTACK dvd and done this 3 times a week and the days inbetween i done 10 mins on step machine and sit ups it took me 8 months to lose 3 stone. You will probably have to reduce your insulin intake especially if you are exercising.

Hope this helps

Good Luck

i am confused. you say you are t1 27 years yet your profile says diagnosed 1 yr! doesnt matter really but could help peeps form some better ideas if they had the right info.

it is not impossible for a t1 to be over weight, common causes of this could be thyroid problems which if undiagnosed need sorting. thyroid problems can be common in diabetics as it is the same auto immune problem that causes it. another problem you may be experiencing is insulin resistance due to the weight issue, metformin may help with that.
if it is a thyroid problem (i am not a doctor i may be wrong) and you have insulin resistance wou will not losing weight until you start treating these other issues.

you should have an idea if you are insulin resistant by the amount of insulin you inject and the speed which your body reacts to it.

you need to discuss these issues with your doc/nurse/specialist

Then you can edit it.

Hope you get the answers you need on the other problems :)
