I got my hab1c result back, the result was 94. The highest it has been since I got diagnosed. I have got an appointment with the hospital diabetic nurse on the 10th of this month . I know it is bad, but how bad I don't know, and is it dangerous? Also would I need to see my own doctor or wait to see the nurse.

Hi,You had the info from daisy1 on a previous thread. Have you tried changing your diet at all? My HbA1c was 95 at diagnosis but I wanted to try without meds. It was really hard work but I am now feeling I have some control. Have you tried testing your meals, before eating and 2 hours after. Are the spikes less than 2? On a previous thread you had some suggestions on your diet. Reducing the carbs should help while waiting for you hospital appointment.

Started to reduce carbs I eat, trying to do more exercise when possible. My morning test still 11.6 and upwards, before food and any drink.
My hab1c results on the 6 monthly reviews have been going down and the diabetic nurse was happy, until now I think.

It would be interesting to see what spike you get with a meal. Try before a meal and 2 hours after. Look at exactly what you have eaten and then you will know if that is OK for you. I was in the 11's often to begin with, After about 2 weeks, with changed diet, they started to go down to under 10 and slowly downwards. I found keeping a complete record of everything I ate and blood sugar readings really helpful. Exercise will also help.

Hi Gordo

I agree entirely with Hiitsme, its what I did and it worked for me.

When i first started LCHF I was getting morning results in the 12.5 to 13. It took about a week before they regular hit 9 something, and several months to get down in the 5s and 6s, but I am regulalrly in the high 4s to mid 5s first thing in a morning now, and only ever see anything over 7 when I have done something I knew was probably supid, so I carry out additional tests.

I have neuropathy in my feet so I am trying to keep below 7.8 at all times, despite my DN telling me anything in single figures would be fine.

This combined with the usual garbage about healthy eating.....

The biggest shock I got when I first started testing was how bad my morning orange juice was - merely swapping that for blueberry and Cranberry juice probably made as big a difference as the rest of the diet change combined!

I think I will make a record of my own testing, with what I eat. See what's going on.

I write down everything I eat and all my readings so I can see at a glance what is going on with my BS. Im sure it will be a positive step when you start keeping your own records.
