Type of diabetes
Type 2
Hi my name is John ( 54 yrs old and 105Kg ) and I have been Type 2 Diabetic for about 5 years. Up to 1 month ago my control was just pills and diet which got more and more difficult to control the Hb1a below 8 to 10 - Doctor not happy ! !
They have recently changed my medication to the Byetta Exenatide Injections twice a day which I seem to be coping with quite well - - after a couple of days of Indegestion.
The problem I have is that I work Shift work and getting a good stable routine is extremely difficult when one day you work 06:00 to 14:00 and the next you work 22:00 to 06:00. Any advice would be helpfull.
Hope to chat to to plenty of you all soon - once i've figured out all the nuances of the system. :D

Hi John! Can't really give you advice as I don't use injectable meds, but just wanted to say welcome and good luck. I'm sure you'll soon get used to the system.

Hi John

Welcome to the forum, unfortunately (well fortunately for me :) :) ) I also don't inject doing diet only at the moment.

What's your diet like?

Hello  and welcome John. I dont know anything about shift work patterns and diabetes. I do hope you get some helpful advice soon. With best wishes RRB

Sorry about the delay in my reply - Got my Laptop stolen - luckily the police found it but it did'nt work right when I got it back. Had to get it re-installed and then - I dropped it!! Insurance company were a nightmare (new company now!)so I had to get a new screen fitted. -- Anyway -
Diet is a bit up and down lately. Shift work is not helping, when you are Nights(22:00 to 06:00) on a sunday and then Afternoons on a onday(14:00 to 22:00) it does not help with a regular eating pattern.
Current treatment (Byetta Exenatide with Metformin) seems ok - no real symptoms to speak of. A lot of people say they feel sick at times with the Injections.
Still struggling with getting enough exercise and the losing weight bit - Slow but steady eh!
Thanks for the replies received - I will try and be more active now I am Computer active again. CHEERS
