hi i have a simple question...... how many clicks of a novomix30 flexipen is 1 unit just and and how many units takes 1 point off your reading. nothing else just those answers please not a run down of depends what your eating i know all about carbs and everything im type 2 ... i just want a simple answer ...... thanks all for help xxxxxx :? :oops:

Hi Maggie

One click of yr flexipen will either deliver 1 or 2 units of insulin. Everything depends on whether you have a pen that delivers insulin in 1 or 2 unit increments. Have a look at the instruction booklet to find out.

In answer to yr second question is test yr bg levels 2.5hrs after you've injected to find out how much yr bg has dropped by increasing your insulin then you'll be able to work things out.

Unfortunately, you are not going to be able to use insulin to carb ratios or correction factors like those using bolus/basal. Twice daily insulin doesn't work like that.

It seems to deliver in 1 unit increments (but please check it's the same pen)
Sorry there is no easy answer to the second question. It does depend on your insulin sensitivity and as it is a mix there are 2 insulins: intermediate-acting protamine insulin aspart to cover your between meal glucose output from the liver and the rest fast acting aspart for meals. You cannot vary them quite in the same way as separate insulins.

also i thought it did work on carb ratio as the nurse said i have to take carbs for it to work. trouble is i dont know how many to take because of blood sugars rising. she said just have a slice of bread but that raises my levels. anyway im getting there slowly now readings were 9 and now 7 thanks all cul xxxxx :)
