Please can someone confirm the ratio of Novomix 30 for me please. I know it is probably obvious but if I give my son aged twelve 30 units of Novomix 30 does this equate to 9 units of fast acting insulin and 21 units of long acting insulin ? Does this mean he requires 300g total of carbohydrate?
his last HBA1c was 11, his highest ever and I am really concerned.Although after reading through this forum I am delighted to say I have put your knowledge to use and his reading after lunch today was 7.1.
Any advice would be really appreciated.

Yes, NOVOMIX 30 is 30% rapid acting and 70% longer acting - but you need to speak with diabetic nurse about carbs/insulin ratio.

And personally, I prefer the basal bolus regime of a once-a-day long acting insulin and a mealtime rapid acting, as I felt more in control and better able adjust dosage for what I am eating. On Novomix 30 you really have to keep to a pretty inflexible eating plan.

Best of luck.

Best way to get results with a kid. I should know, I was one on mixed insulin. Sure basal bolus is better when you're an adult, but as a child mixed is much easier to use.
