I tweeted Novo Nordsik and this is there response as to why the insulin vials are now in higher boxes (not a huge deal in the scheme of things but it annoyed me as to why we had to have bigger packaging all of a sudden when they used to fit snugly into their little boxes and took up less room in our already bulging holiday bags) :-

@Greygirly Thx 4 your question. To comply w/ European authorities we had to use a larger insert format 4 some countries & thereby bigger box

There's no information online. And every tweet they recieved they didn't answer strsight out!

I think someone said it was because on the little boxes the font was too small for some people so they have made it bigger! I agree though the boxes are unnecessarily big now, I had problems trying to get it at first as the pharmacist wouldn't give me it at first as it was different to usual!

My insulin was changed to a bigger box at the beginning of the year so it must be catching

They're not really getting the message are they. We want smaller things not b*%^$y larger containers and boxes!

Absolutely Riri, hate seeing waste

Ha, I've noticed this too. It's hard enough trying to cram all the supplies for a day away from home without them increasing the size of the packaging on things. Such a waste too.

I noticed this! Just means they take up more space in the **** fridge unless you take them all out of the packaging, grr!

What stops you putting them in your own box when you get home?

If there's a problem with the vial then they want vial and box back.

Plus they fitted snugly in their last box without fear of them moving about /breaking. I don't have a box that fits a vial exactly.

Anyone noticed the manufacturer's leaflets are also getting longer
and larger too ?
I have - they become impossible to refold up again as they
are so lonnnnnnnng !
I end up ramming them back into the box or packaging with bits of the
leaflet still hanging out of them . So annoys me does this !

I agree, I bin the leaflets, first thing I do, otherwise I wreck the box in frustration. I hate the blister packs too, and I hate how you can't tear one vial away from another, without damaging the next chap's protective blister. (Or even my fingers!). They're supposed to be perforated but their perforation machine doesn't work in my opinion. I need to do this when I go away for a weekend and don't want to take a whole box with me. Happy days!

I keep the boxes and leaflets but I also keep the vials in them at all time. Even the current vial which I'm using is kept in the box to protect it a bit.

Just unrolled a med leaflet - it was huge and is impossible
to refold back up
So have measured it and it is 32" inches long
Rediculous me tinks !!!

For anyone who's interested order a Insulin Vial Protector in lime (!) neoprene to try it out. They're not cooled or anything but I may start using it for the vial that's on the go. Ordered from pump fashion for £6 plus postage - was able to enter the bit about vat exception so didn't pay the VAT. I'll give it a go
