I am on 2x 500mg metformin. At the beginning of the week I contracted the wonderful novovirus and was unable to eat for a couple of days. I decided not to take the metformin as I couldnt eat and it probably would not have stayed down if I had taken it. Was that the correct decision?

Not quite the same but I've got to go for and endoscopy and and can't eat beforehand so checked with the surgery and the nurse said not to worry about meds. You probaby wont feel like eating for a couple of days but if you can, Marigold vegetable stock made up with boiling water in a mug isn't too harsh on the stomach if you can manage to keep it down. If you are on Metformin you shouldn't get very low BG's. Funny what memories come back.... when I was little my mum always used to give me a bit of mashed potato and a bit of fish steamed in milk when I wasn't well. I hope you feel better soon, it's a horrid bug and so easy to pick up. When better use an anti bacterial hand get when out and about for a bit of extra protection and at home lots of thorough hand washing.
