I'm so pleased I saw a different DN today and she has taken me off Metformin SR, she totally understood how I felt and the awful side effects I have been struggling with, She has prescribed Dapaglifozin and said they may even help with my weight, even eating low carb I struggle to lose any weight at all, so I'm hoping for a new start and to get some sort of life back without worrying about where the nearest bathroom is

Ah, well done you. Let's hope this new DN is one you can 'keep'. I don't take any meds so can't comment on Dapaglifozin, but I hope the new regime works out to suit you.
