I have had reduced feeling in my feet and lower legs with occasional severe short sharp pains, esp in my toes for a number of years.
It feels as though I have a have a sock on when I havent. I cant feel light touch or bangs but can feel sharp objects.
It goes from below my knees to my toes, getting worse towards my toes.

It happens in my hands and arms to a lesser degree.

I have recently had fasting blood test results of 6.4 and am awaiting a glucose tolerance test.

Any ideas? I thought it might be linked to lymphodema, but my lymphodema nurse says not.

The vast majority of us on here are patients and not doctors so although we swap ideas we can't really give diagnoses or figure out why you feel like you are wearing socks.

The 6.4 reading is suggestive of pre-diabetes and two readings like that would be enough to confirm it. Diabetes can and does cause neuropathy and can result in pain and numbness etc. but whether your problems are diabetes related is beyond my skill set.

Thanks, Squire Fulwood, that's helpful. I need to be sure before I ask my doctor again. Rather
worryingly, the Practice Nurse told me recently that they don't take action on symptoms like mine
(swelling, numbness, pins and needles and pain) until ulcers start to appear.

The lymphodema nurse said the symptoms werent related to lymphodema and could be neuropathy.

The NHS does come out with statements that are not helpful sometimes like waiting for ulcers before they do anything (in your case).

I suggest you read a lot on this board because there are many people here who are doing things on their own account and improving their condition or at least are preventing things from getting worse.
