Numb feet and spreading up leg.....

Does anyone have any experience of numbness on their feet , and numbness spreading up there legs ? I cannot now feel my skin on ankles and calf area .
At this rate I am worried I might go numb all over . Fingers pads are not the best either !
I would have thought that a good regular HBA1C reading would not cause neuropathy , as the glucose level , would not damage the nerves at that reading?
Any similar people with this out there ??

Hi Yoda,


I suggest you see your GP as soon as possible as the numbness may cause you to have an accident with your foot and as you know foot injuries can be extremly serious for any one with diabetes. I do not mean to scare you or anything but you need to see a Doctor pretty soon and get your symptoms checked out.
 
I went to the doctor complaining of pains an pins an needles in my feet arms legs an hands and he put me on naproxen but I still can't feel things with my fingers and toes..... Feels like there not connected to my body

I have the same problem my hb1ca is good but I'm suffering really bad with neuropathy in both my feet with no feeling in either and it also goes up my left leg this has become worst since I dka in November resulting in a coma with brain and blood infection , I was also septic, pnemiou, and I had brain swelling and I swelled all over from all the infections, I died twice, I'm now under a pain management clinic I'm on gabapentine 600mg three times a day and also dulfuxine for this I'm having to use crutches when in doors and a wheelchair when out due to the pain, it's get so bad I'm awake most of the night with it can't bear anything on or touching them I sleep with a pillow under them so they don't touch the bed or anything

GP's are not much help with things like that. I have no clue what may be the cause but I would go to A&E to be honest. No feeling in lower limbs needs attention pretty quick in my opinion. Only you know how bad your legs are and I don't wish to alarm you, just saying I wouldn't go back to the same doctor who didn't sort it first time around ! Good luck !

mine have been numb for last few years, im sick of telling them (docs) the foot nurse even blamed something else for mine knowing im a diabetic??

My feet tingle when my bloods go up I know this but GPS said the weather another I was too sensitive it seems as long as on paper ie hb1c is okay to cover themselves the rest does not matter

Yes I have eye issues do you test when you have focus issues I have it when hypo or above 25 along with pain behind my left eye , on legs I can get In a bath and can't tell whether the water is hot or cold below my knees feet and hands are always hot and feet feel like wrinkled socks all the time between my toes , hope I'm a help and not just a moan keith.

Thanks all for your replies , Yes I can see what you mean Keith , about hot and cold water / it feels the same .
We press on , I will check it out with my GP .... Noticed the tip of my tongue going numb now ! LOL ! :crazy:
 
You need to see a neurologist at a hospital demand to be referred from your doctor, I've been getting difficulty with my feet legs and hands and I went to see the specialist yesterday he said its nerve damage ( neoropathy) I have to go back for an electronic test to see how bad it is etc , good luck

Just getting over the mumps then I will get back to the doctors and try and get him to refer me to somebody that can check my symptoms and finally get it sorted

As a Podiatrist and having diabetes I would suggest you get a referral to a Podiatrist and thr diabetes team at a hospital. If you are given the right health education and keep your diabetes stable the problem should stabilise. Unfortunately it will not go away as the damage is already done. I am seeing my GP today !!
 
I keep getting the feeling of itching all over and no matter how much I scratch I can't stop it as it feels like pins and needles from the inside out and my glucose levels are ranging from 5.5 to 15.9mmol and I don't eat very much but drink plenty of water and the numbness in my hands and feet come and go so is there cause for concern or is all this normal for type 2 ???
