I cannot, for the life of me seem to get my BG down below the 12mmol-ish level anymore!
I was diagnosed T2 last March and currently take 1 x 500mg Metformin am and 2 x 500mg in the evening. Unfortunately I also take a couple other medications for Rheumatoid Arthritis, but these haven't affected my levels before. I do as much as I can to keep the diet side of things controlled but STILL those levels stay high...sometimes as high as 19.

I feel **** ALL the time...completely wiped out......IS this related?

Sorry if these are dumb questions. I hate my GP's surgery but suspect I'm going to have to pay a visit.

viv, feeling **** all the time is almost certainly related to your diabetes; I remember the feeling all too well. With BG levels that high you're also at risk of developing some very nasty complications which make a visit to the Doc's look like a walk in the park.

Please make yourself an appointment and get your medication reassessed; metformin is unlikely to bring your BG levels down to the safety zone.

If Metformin's not going to do the job, then are we talking insulin?
I'll be honest, the thought of going on insulin scares the bejesus out of me.
I mean NO disrespect to all of you insulin users out there...non at all.

Insulin isn't the only option available, viv. There are plenty of oral meds available which can significantly lower BG levels. The doc's like metformin because it doesn't cause hypos but with results like yours, it clearly isn't suitable.

Have you tried cutting right back on the carbs. If you don't eat them, there's no glucose( well almost) to go in to your blood. Cutting back really hard should show up on your testing almost immediately.
