Over the last week or so my levels have been getting a bit out of control so for the last 2 days I've been trying to pay extra attention to everything. I have always had problems with my overnight levels so I was wondering if you would mind having a look and seeing what you think.
06/05/2015
22.00 16.8 - 8u Levemir
(Basal test irrelevant because too high to start one, should of had bolus correction)
07/05/2015
05.50 14.8. ( Too high, because no correction done night before.)
6u novorapid correction dose - no food
07.20 7.7 10u Levemir - no breakfast
(Basal test again irrelevant because correction dose done.)
08.40 6.4
09.50 8.9
10.50 9.6
13.10 8.9 4u novorapid carbs 3.9 lunch = chorizo and pepperoni & babybel cheese
18.30 9.2 (too high for over 4 hours since last meal.)
4u novorapid carbs = 2.1 - omlette with pancetta
20.10 5.6. (Good 2 hour post level)
21.40 7.5. (Gone up a bit too much indicating basal short)
10u levemir
08/05/2015
05.50 8.5 ( only 1 unit change since last night, looks good.)
07.10 9.9 2u novorapid 10u levemir - no breakfast
(the correction dose here suggests there is a basal shortfall, but as you've recently changed from 8-10 would test in a few days. )
09.55 7.4. Looks good here.
12.12 6.0 looks good here
6u novorapid - steak pie and small portion of chips 53g
13.07 8.3. Looks good here
14.18 8.6 small rise looks good here, any readings after this?
I'm tying myself in knots trying to work out correct basel rates, carb:insulin ratios, correction doses etc, I know I need to chill and focus on one thing at a time but I just can't haha. I think the basal might be correct now at 10u morning and night. Day 1 although high during the day I stayed fairly flat without food and I did start high so that probably knocked me out. Night 2 I think the 10u was good. I only went up 1 overnight which is the best I have ever managed. I'm not convinced my carbs:insulin ratios are right. I feel like I'm low carbing but still needing quite a lot of insulin but I know the protein/fat can pay a part in that. Does anyone have any thoughts on my numbers and suggestions on what to look at next.
