Numbness question

Hi, I wonder if anyone has experienced this and if they have discovered it is related to Diabeties. I have recently ( since diagnosis ) taken up running again. Because I haven't really done much running since last winter I have been taking it slowly but an issue has came back which I had completely forgotten about before. It seems to be when I get to around 2 and a half to 3 miles into my run that my foot begins to go numb, starting with the ball of my foot then my toes. It doesn't hurt it's just really annoying. On runners forums I have tried suggestions such as trying different shoes, trying lacing the shoes in different ways, even wearing a size larger, calf muscle stretching ..but none of that seems to work for me. It's just really frustrating because it is limiting the amount of training and distances I am able to do. It seems predominantly to be on my left foot but the right one goes too sometimes. I do have an issue with my right heel underneath also but I don't think this is related because I never had it when I experienced the numbness last year. Any ideas gratefully received x
