Occasional Nocturia

I was diagnosed with Type 2 just over two years ago. Thanks to advice from this forum I have been in remission for just under two years and I certainly feel the benefits of losing so much weight (5st). I have kept up with a low carb diet, limiting myself to about 100-110g a day with help from my meter. At the beginning of the new year, I noticed that I had put on about 5lbs and decided to cut back to my original diet of about 70g a day as I didn't want to push my luck. My blood sugar has been steadily declining (although very slowly) and my fasting count is between 4.3 and 5.3 and post prandial between 6.3 and 7.1. All in all, I was happy with progress but I do suffer from anxiety which seems hell bent on making my life a misery.

Since I started the diet, every few days, I have about a 12 hr period where I need to urinate every two hrs (urine almost clear like well-hydrated) even though I haven't been drinking any more than usual. It always starts at night and lasts until midday when my frequency goes back to every 3-5 hrs. I naturally checked my blood sugar and it is a little higher (about 5.0) but I suspect the anxiety may have something to do with that.

My anxiety loves the unexplained. Since this started when I went on the diet, I am wondering whether it has something to do with it. A friend of mine who is also in remission told me that although I'm not following a strict keto diet, weight loss can often lead to temporary changes in urination and I am losing weight, on average about 2-3lbs a week. I have no other symptoms. As my doctor is aware I suffer from anxiety, I don't want to bother her unnecessarily so I thought I would ask here whether anyone else has noticed changes when dieting.

Thanks for reading.

If you are low carbing and low enough to be in Ketosis, then you do pee more as a lot of the stored fat contains water. which must come out. I could be wrong but suspect when you are peeing more frequently corresponds to your body fat burning. as a type 2, 5 mmol although higher is still ideal, i wish i could be in a position to think mine was raised to 5.

Thanks for the reply. I gave in and had an appointment with the duty doctor who duly took some samples so will know in due course. He was convinced that it's diabetic related and that I'm making a mistake with my blood sugar readings. I don't think I am unless the meter is malfunctioning. I did take a reading in the middle of the last episode and it was 4.8 which doesn't seem high to me but I'm not an expert. Hopefully, I can deal with my regular doc next time.
