Pretty much through my life I’ve always had fairly week ankles. out if nowhere I’d suddenly lift left foot and get shooting pain through ankle and quite often would fall over etc.
Haven’t had this for ages but for some reason this week it’s happened several times each day. Usually when I’m going up or down stairs so I nearly fall down and break my neck.

It occurred to me that maybe it’s linked with my sugars lowering (can’t think if anything else it could be) but thought I’d see what you guys thought. Seems very odd it’s not been around for ages then this week every day!

Do remember that just because you are diabetic does not mean everything is related to blood sugars, especially if you've had that issue through your life.

I appreciate that
It’s more that it hasn’t been there for ages so just occurred to me that maybe that was because sugars had been too high.
Was just curious really.

Yes, it is possible due to being at lower levels after being a higher levels for a long time.

I thought neuropathy happened due to high sugars and got better at lower?

plus this was pre D so it’s origination isn’t neuropathy but suddenly reappeared.

The GP can arrange for tests for PN and we can't say for sure that this is it and it could be nothing to do with diabetes and the fact that you've always had this weakness suggest this.
The damage to my eyes occurred at 20 years of diabetes and after pregnancy roller coaster sugars! As I understand it prior to diagnosis type 2s have had higher sugars and insulin for 15 years prior so it is plausible that although you're getting your hba1c s much better, that some damage has occurred.

It could just be that when your sugar levels were higher they were masking the ankle problem.
It would be worth going to the docs but making sure they know it is a long standing issue that was around well before the diabetes
