Off Insulin after 10 years - simple and easy

Ì think this must be the most promising thread I have read here for a number of years.

You must be very happy, you were actually taking quite a high dose of insulin.

Yes happy indeed.

The downside tho was my old specialist was happy with my progression to 130 units per day.and said it was just like pregnancy and got worse.

That is good news coming off the insulin, but I'm surprised that the diet plan doesn't requiring any testing, I would have thought any diet would require testing otherwise how would you know if it's working?

I did blood sugar tests lots of them up to 10 per day and night during the first 2 weeks as I adjusted my insulin to different levels each day but since I have come off insulin and my blood sugar is predictable I only do tests.occasionally. If for any reason I am in doubt I do a test. The tests are not very accurate (as you probably know) you can't get the same results if you do consecutive tests.

As for serving sizes it is just business as usual. I do keep in mind that if I want to lose weight big servings are not a good idea.

So essentially once everything is stable I have nothing to count or measure.

One big thing that I did not tell you was that insulin gave me a raging hunger and now it is normal.

Thanks for the explanation Forge.

Might be a good idea just to test once in a while just to make sure you are staying on track, you were previously on quite a high dose of insulin so I'm not surprised you were always hungry. Well done on you achievements.
