Anyone here had any experience of working offshore with T1?

I know it's possible under OGUK guidance, but I don't work on the same platform all the time, but just go out for a few days each time to audit various platforms for different operators.

I'm currently not allowed off, I have to have 6 months control proven first. I spoke to my consultant about it the day I was diagnosed. So I currently have a vantage block which sucks!

Policy is that the medic must be aware of your diabetes to ensure he/she is up to speed on emergency treatment etc. going to different operators regularly could be more problematic but it should not stop your career. Just a few extra hoops to jump through.

I have a T1 colleague who goes off regularly :) he was diagnosed 23 years ago

Thanks mate,

hope you manage to get round the bureaucracy as well. For me I think it's just going to take a lot of forward planning of my work, early contact with the clients and keep my records up to date.

I can think that the foreign places could be an issue though, but in some cases that won't be a great loss.

I haven't updated my vantage yet, but my medical is due in August, so no way I'll be passing that.

Yeah, being female I had enough issues getting off with bed space so this is just an extra hurdle!
