oInjecting sites

Hi there, I hope this doesn't sound like a silly question but I was wondering what is the difference between injecting into my tummy or my arm.
The reason I ask is we are eating out Christmas day and wanted to wear a dress....a bit awkward to inject without having to traipse to the loo to do it,
so I wanted to inject into my arm.
When I asked my diabetologist she looked at me like I was crazy and told me I have to inject into my tummy as it is near my pancreas ?????
I know what she said isn't right but I just want to make sure I am not doing myself any harm if on an occasion like this I inject into my arm.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
 
No harm to.inject in arm, make sure its into fat at the back of the arm. Only thing is stomach is recommended to be the fastest as in insulin peaks quicker and action all completed quicker than other areas. So, be cautious if a little higher than usual at 2 hours as there may be a lag with the insulin working.

i always inject into my arms, i think its faster acting to inject your stomach but the arm is fine, i use it everyday
 
There's no reason why you can't inject in the arms, insulin works fastest in the stomach, arms, legs and lastly in the buttocks. I tend to stick with the stomach and arms for bolus injections and buttocks and legs for my basal.
 
Hi. If you Google insulin injecting sites etc you will find under Google images some very good (and endless!) pictures of sites including arm, buttocks, thighs etc
 
Remember you can inject through clothes if you don't feel confident changing sites. I used to inject through everything even jeans without any trouble.

Although some people do I wouldn't advise it, the modern needles are ultra-fine and injecting through clothing will damage the tip meaning the insulin isn't administered properly, not to mention the risk of contaminating the needle.
 
Hi guys, just an update from today. Went to inject into my arm and couldn't do, i actually felt sick at the thought of doing it don't t know why. I even asked my needlephobic husband to do it for me and he nearly fainted when i gave him the insulin pen. So just kind if hid behind the table cloth wheeked my dress up and injected into my tum.. ...just hope the restaurant didn't have any security cameras!

Maybe try again at home and practice. If I had have it to my wife to inject she would happily do it, is that a good a thing lol.
