Okay I might get shot but here goes

Hi everyboody,
I might get shot here but here goes.....
Please forgive me for what i have said but i think we all need pulling back into what this forum was set up for!
How come we are fighting about the silly things?
why do some people feel the need to be little people?
I am on low carb or reduced carb!
My mum is not as she is type 1.
Okay so why is there this need for people to fight?
I just don't understand why? We are all here for reason are we not? We all have the same condition do we not?
So why do we have to fight?
I think it is wrong that after the admin made a safe place for non low carbers to go to talk that there is fighting going off there as well. That is meant to be the place where they can go and say what they need to say without low carbers going in there! Please respect what it says!
Same as the low carb section, If you go in there please respect the low carbers as well!
we should be working together! If the scientist's fought like people on here are doing, Then insulin would never of been invented or any medication! There would be no such thing as forum's as the person who first thought up the forum idea would of been fighting!
I must admit that I don't care if someone low carbs, high carbs or even eats so many carbs that their whole meal is nothing but carbs!
But the problem is here that we are forgetting the whole point of this forum are we not? This is not a fight club, This is about being there for one another we all have our own views! But sometimes we keep them views silent as not to offend other people!
There has been times where I have come on to the forum and seen nothing but fighting!
I understand that some people have a their own views! But please lets not fight!

The admin and the mods have enough problems on their plates stopping all the rogue messages put on the forum by the bots and by websites! They have enough of a big job!
I have noticed alot of visitors to the forum and not really any new people! Can we not call a end to the fighting? Does it matter what someones diet is? At the end of the day we all have diabeities in one form or another!
Okay now you can get your guns out and shoot me! I know there will be lots of people gunning for me! When i joined here I did not see any fighting all of a sudden we have turned into a fight club!

Well said Sandy!!!!I for one would not shoot you,you put it all in a nutshell .This forum is about help and support.It's just a pity that some members forget that.

Hi Sandy,
I fully agree with your point. And I would like to add that these opposing points of view are often initiated by "professionals". I see 2 dieticians - 1 for my diabetes and another for my diabetes-related kidney problems. In the past each has given me completely opposing "rules" and diet advise which they each then try to change after I've started the others style. I have now told them both to fight amongst themselves and, when they can tell me something that they both agree on, call me in for a joint appointment. I can tell you that they don't like it much but if they squabble like kids - treat 'em like kids!
Unfortunately, we've all learned what we know from these people and a lot of what they suggest is based on trial and error and individual oppinion. What works for one may not work for others.
As a footnote to this I would say:
If you want to argue over what you see here, don't. Just be glad that you can still see it at all.

I hate fightinga s no one gets anywhere, someone gets upset! or gets their feeling's hurt!
Why can't we all just get along! The bickering does not help anyone, There are lots of newbie's around who are scared and affraid to ask any sort of questions!
if we all work as one then we will and can get through what we are all going through!
Diabeties is hard enough without the fighting! Life is hard work at times, but if we all take a little bit then life seems to even out!
I know this may sound odd! But if we all fight then eventually the mods and admin will wear out and not have the strength to be there for everyone who needs it!
The newbie's will be left alone, as there will be no one around except the fight club!
I have always said.. nothing gets done with fighting except damage! once damage is done in a fight people are hurt and there is no coming back for them!
Can't we work it out as a team!
i would like to thank the admin and the mods for all their hard work on this forum!

Absolutely brilliant - thank you so much Sandy for having the nerve to post. This is the only place I get any support/encouragement etc. but quite often I do not ask my questions/struggles simply because of the carb differences which exist.

Also considering what is going off for you at the moment you are an absolute treasure.

I am now blushing! I don't have alot of nerve! That is why i put the bit about being shot! I thought that someone had to say something it could not carry on! it is just because there are so many people who are too scared to post just incase they cause a fight!
No one should be affraid ever to post that is what this forum is here for!
It is here to help! To be able to offer help we have to be able to talk! talking is times great healer so I have been told!
I just want everybody to be able to get along! And for no one to be affraid to ask for help!

It saddens me to think that newbies are afraid to post because of dissension on here.All of you that argue the toss about diets take note!!We are here to help and support and answer questions.
To any newbies,PM the mods!!we don't bite!!If you want to ask a question but are too shy to put it on the board then PM any of us! Please don't go away with a question unanswered.

This is what i was trying to say! There has been lot's of newbie's and visitor's looking around, They see the fighting and then go away! As they are scared to start a new one!
I know that to some people it would be like your first day at school! You are the new kid, In a school where everybody knows everybody else! And you are the outsider! It upsets me to think that if i had seen all the fighting then i would never of signed up to the forum!
this place is the only place I can come to and say how i am feeling and know that i will get answer's! If not answers then i will get support!
I don't like the idea that newbie's who really need help are going away so scared to post and ask questions! To of come here is the first step of being able to cope with their condition!
They call out for help! And then get no answer or see a fight starting! If we listened to the Nhs guidelines then we would all be in such a mess! But the newbie's is all what they will know! if they are too scared to ask questions they will carry on with the advice that they have been given!
I personally don't care about what diet someone is on! If i can offer a bit of help or support to get them through a difficult patch! Or be able to say congratulations to them and well done! So be it! Does it matter what diet! To me no it does not matter! I just want to be able to offer some support or help to some one who was as scared as i was when i first came here! You offered me support and helped me to be able to have the know how to go and get another Gp and ask for help! I want us all to be able to offer the support to others as you have done to me!
Please let's not fight! It means while fighting is happening someone is calling for help and not getting the support they need at a very critial point!

Just out of curiosity. What is the evidence that new people don,t post? Or is this just a guess?
 
Bolders - hundreds of new people post, just check the greetings and introductions thread, I think some newbies are discouraged because of constant strong opinions around the low-carb debate.

This is a great post because it highlights the issues we are facing - issues that are nearly inevitable in a forum of this size. It's really sad that people are afraid to use the forum or express their views. It runs totally contrary to why we set the forum up. This is, and will remain, an unrestricted space without commercial objectives for the use of the diabetes community to support each other.

You will not be banned for having views, ever, but if you flout the forum rules and resort to personal attacks, you will be. We are trying our hardest to run a balanced, fair community that helps everybody, particularly those who need it most. Every time someone ruins a thread with their personal views, it damages this objective.

Just the other day i saw 19 visitor's and none new people! If i was a newbie i would of not of talked or stayed around!
I must admit i have seen alot of arguements around here! I just don't like the idea of the fights that are going off! We all have our own views! But at the end of the day! There will be lots of people who are too scared to post how they feel about things!
I know that alot of people have stopped posting on here out of fear! I don't blame them! I posted because I wanted to bring to the attention that this is getting silly!
There is getting to the point where i feel that the forum is becoming us and them! This is meant to be a forum for help with diabeties! I am scared that one day i will be in the state where i ask something and that will be the day where a whole us and them war starts!
Don't get me wrong this is how war's start! One side says we are right and the other says we are right! What happens alot of deaths and alot of pain and suffering!
I was only trying to make a point that we need to work as a team to help everyone! everyone gets told the same high carbs! But this works for some and not for others!
Why can't we all just get along? There is so much knowledge in this forum, so many people who are out there to be able offer help to others! Please lets not have another one where a fight starts!
We are all different we all have the right to our views! If it works then use it, if not then use something else! All we can do is offer support to newbies and offer kindness and be there for them!
I don't like fighting, I know that this may sound strange, I never liked fighting even back in school! I don't want to cause a fight! I just want us to all work together as a team and be there for one another as well as there for the newbies!
When i first came on here i was so scared and worried! But with the gentle support and advice i managed to get the help that i needed! This forum is so helpful, I know that we all have the same problem!

We should see the different diet approaches as just tools in the box, choose which one that suits you. I will recommend low carb cos that's what's worked for me. It might not be for you.
 
There are good and helpful members on this forum that go out of their way to help and post useful ,informative and very knowledgeable posts.Long may they continue to help others and I salute them for it.Most of them have their own diabetes under control and probably do not need to be here but they are and I thank them for that.
Forums evolve,members change.There are not many who post on here that were here when I first joined.As long as we keep helping and educating new diabetics then ,hopefully ,we will always have a useful knowledge base to impart to each successive group of new diabetics coming onto the forum.
As for the arguments....strangely enough that probably makes this forum fairly unique in that the arguments are actually tolerated and allowed to be left on the board!!
It is up to the members to read and discard what they do not want.Everyone has choice in that matter.
However,again.Please respect each others points of view.You are all diabetics striving to control by whatever means works for you.We are all unique individuals with our own personal make up.
