Hi all

Just in an attempt to keep up, as tech and treatments are moving forward at such a pace.. I'm using Humalog and have for years, even when I transitioned from pens. Pod changes are between 48 & 60 hrs, if I leave it the full 3 days I suffer from insulin resistance.

Pre HCL using Dash I tried Fiasp, TBH i struggled a bit and reverted back to Humalog after 10 days. Not sure if the more aggressive action would be better suited to the HCL systems?

Any other new insulins that are worth a try? I'd like something that'll bring down a high BG more promptly and also if possible leave pods in place for 3 days without insulin resistance.

I've an appointment at with the diabetic team in 4 weeks so just boning up before attending.

Out of curiosity how are your sites, have you tried to put the pump somewhere else to see if your sites are the issue?

If you’re rotating them enough and have tried other areas you possibly haven’t tried before and the issue is still present there’s only 2 other insulin that work “quicker” which are Fiasp and Lyumjev. The only issue with either of these is that they can sting when insulin is going in and cause more general soreness around the sites. It’s whether that’s something you can put up with. You do also have to be careful with the quicker insulins, although they kick in faster they still can take a bit of time to bring down a high BG and a lot of people over compensate for that which can in turn cause a really low BG as a result.

Hi

Thx for the reply.
I put the libre centrally on the back of my arm, pump goes above and below plus back, buttocks, and side of thigh in rotation. I switch sides each libre change so sites have time to recover.

I notice Lyumjev and Fiasp are only compatible with Dash and not 5. Not sure why.

It’s more than likely because they haven’t tested it yet so can’t confirm whether it is suitable to use. When I started on Lyumjev it wasn’t a recommended insulin for the Medtronic 780g but my doctor said plenty of people used it and it was up to me if I wanted to try it. You have to weigh up whether it’s worth trying it because using something that isn’t on the list of compatible insulins could void warranty if something goes wrong.

I have used both Fiasp and Lyumjev with my Omnipod [emoji6] as my diabetes nurse phoned all companies to find out if they would work or not. As Nicola M said, it was all simply because they hadn’t been tested. I was fine with Fiasp but Lyumjev stung a lot so I went back to Fiasp.
