Wondered if you could offer a bit of advice, we are two weeks into the omnipod and having a nightmare. We've had two pod fails due to occlusion and the helpline suggested that we should only bolus four units up front and the rest over half an hour as the pump can't cope pushing through any more insulin in one go....do you do this? I am trying to work out how the heck I'm supposed to stop my daughter's (16) breakfast spike if I can't give her it all up front and delay before eating.
Also I am confused regarding the way the pod calculates a meal dose if you eat within a timescale whereby there is still insulin on board from the previous meal. The lady on the helpline said that the meter will treat this as insulin on board and therefore lower the recommended dose for the next meal (which makes it inaccurate). She mentioned that I could do a manual dose or take off the reverse action setting but that I would need to tell my hospital team as it was not recommended. I'm a bit baffled can you tell?!!
