Hi

Im due to see my DSN tomorrow about being put on the waiting list for the pump, from what I have read I am assuming this pump is available on the NHS, but is it down to the individual trusts and what funding they have cause I really like the idea of not having the cannula because I am so clumsy but I just have a horrible feeling she will say its not available. Does anyone know??

nothing is impossible I would say, so don't be afraid to ask for that pump....
 
It's a bit more complicated than that.

Pump funding comes from your CCG rather than from your trust, and they can fund any pump they want. But the pump is provided under the care of the diabetic clinic and the diabetic clinic might only support 1 or a limited number of pumps. If your diabetic clinic doesn't provide support for your chosen pump you can find out an alternative clinic in your area that does and get referred there.
