As PenfoldADP said metformin SR is a lot easier on the stomach (I am currently on it) and beats the standard stuff any day. One other thing about metformin is you are unlikely to have a hypo. If you are really inclined to drink, make sure you have eaten a reasonable amount before you drink. As I understand it, the liver seems to regard alcohol as a poison and attends to it straight away and leaves other stuff till later. Not sure about the implications of food + booze for blood sugar, but suspect it would be more likely to be hyper than a hypo.Ok. Also if you are on regular Metformin and you find have 'stomach issues' consider asking for the slow version. Metformin messed me up but thankfully got off it in 5 months - many who are this forum say the SR version is gentler on the stomach
Metformin not networking stupid predictive text tI asked my DN about this as my Dad was aghast thatI took my networking before a family meal when I would be drinking, he didn't take his at all. She said if you're just having one or two it's fine ,but if you're going to have a few then don't take the networking as one odd evening isn't going to hurt.obviously if you're a regular drinker it's not a solution

I think the recommendation for T2s is 1-2 drinks per day. So take it easy and enjoy those parties.
