Sup Everyone!!

Only just found this today :D
Thing is i have slightly blurred vision in one eye, the right one! Diabetes is handdled fine had my anuall review yesterday and whatever the average thing called lol is at 7.9 which is good! DOc said im doin great, had an eye test they said everything is fine!!

Just wondering if anybody else has had this problem and if it went away?!!?

Ta!

I'm with sami on this one.

7.9% HbA1c is equivalent to an average blood sugar of over 10mmol/l. If anyone defines that as good, they need to think again because it's roughly double what a non-diabetics blood sugar would be.

7% was originally intended as an upper limit for acceptable control, but it looks like the definition has shifted so that people these days are being told 7% is a target. It's not.

Blurred vision is a classic symptom of damaging blood sugar levels. I'd get it checked out if I were you.

All the best,

fergus

I have noticed that my vision changes if my blood sugar is high for a few days...could it be that?
I agree with what Sami and Fergus have said...7.9 is not the worst your Dr will have seen, but it isn't good! I guess it depends on what is was last time, as to whetheryour dr thinks it is good though! If ithas come down from 9..then it is relatively good, but not good enough that you shouldn't try to improve...hey, we should all do that!

hello samliver,

If you're still a teenager then the chances are your doctor will let you get away with
slightly slacker control.(this was the case in my day).
Remember with your hba1c - the best that you can do will always be good enough.

Blurred vision can be a sign of bad control, but you may also get it if your control
has recently become much better.

all the best,
timo

P.S. I sometimes get blurred vision in one eye when i drink jack daniel's lying down.
