Yesterday I fainted at work. Almost immediately I had a banana, and drank some glucose water. Approximately 2 hours later I had a blood sugar test and it was 3.5. I was told at the time it was low, but today my doctor said just to treat it as a one-off incident, as a fasting blood test a few days ago came back normal. I am not diabetic. I am however Vitamin B and D deficient and the GP has now also advised me to take iron tablets. Should I be concerned with the one-off reading or just dismiss it.

You say you are not diabetic, so I presume you are not taking insulin or taking any drug which increases insulin production. 3.5 is on the low side of normal and, as you say, your blood sugar levels have increased. Human beings faint for all sorts of reasons and, as far as I understand it, going hypo is not the same experience as fainting. I would take your doctor's advice and don't worry about it.
