Afternoon

I have decided to take on the low card diet and today is my end of week one. I have lost 8lbs and 2 cm of my waist which is good to see.

I also bought a blood.monitor yesterday and have used it today. My first reading was 5.8 and then after my brunch which was a small fry up. It had lowered to 4.9 is this usual after a meal for it to go down?

I have also bought a book called the 8 week blood sugar diet recipe book which has been of great inspiration which I will be trying to utilise of the coming weeks.

Any help with the monitoring of blood would be great and expected levels for someone who is prediabetic with an HbA1c reading of 46.

Thanks

Those readings are good ones. Just be aware that meters are not 100% accurate, and we all have dodgy readings from time to time. If you have a reading that surprises you, either higher or lower than you expect, wash your hands again and take another reading. Take a 3rd one if these 2 are wide apart.

Test immediately before you eat, then again 2 hours after first bite (without eating again in this period). If you keep a food diary and record your befores and afters alongside, you will soon see patterns emerging, showing you which foods are OK and which are anything but OK! This way you can reduce portion sizes of certain carb foods, or eliminate them.

Well done on that weight loss. That is brilliant. :)
