Sometimes I don't think I will ever understand Diabetes..it's a sneaky swine. I have seen me eat good grub all day, eggy for brekkie, salad for lunch and minimal carbs for dinner. I did this last week after some seriously high Bg's, it did work and numbers dropped quite well into the 8's, 7's and a 6.something or other. Got a reduced bacon joint in Morrisons yesterday, have some aged veggies in fridge so a nice pot of soup methinks. Used the dried veggie soup mix, some onions, carrots, leeks and a small turnip, plus one small grated spud. All went well until hubby presented me a with a slice of crusty white bread slathered with butter to mop up the dregs. Haven't had crusty bread for months..and ****, did it taste good. Luckily it isn't something that I crave usually but as it was there in front of me..no willpower. Sat here looking at my meter and thought only 3 strips left but I really wanted to see how the bread had affected me combined with the soup. 6.0!! I nearly fell off my chair. Not something I plan to do again in the near future (the bread I mean) but it sure was nice while it lasted!!
