Came back as expected as a bit high at 46, which is my highest result since my first HbA1c after diagnosis. Since it's more or less as I expected, and I know the cause - high stress levels, feeling very much under the weather since before lockdown - with a bit of slightly sinful chocolatey bingeing thrown into the mix- I'm not too concerned as I know from experience it will bounce back down again.

Something I found interesting was that for the most part my pre and post meal figures have been showing the same sort of small rise patterns that I generally see with LCHF, but they've both been just a few points higher. Bingey results excepted and quite obvious from resulting levels!

I get that all the time. For example, if my fasting level in the morning is 6 (and it usually is) then it stays around 6 ALL day without me having to do anything about it, if I run it drops but then goes back up to 6 as if it's saying that's what I'm going to strive for no matter what you do!. At meal times, the rise (if I have got the insulin rightish) goes up by 2 or less points. If my fasting levels are 8 in the morning (rare) then my food levels go up by 2 points again no matter what. I was told that the fasting level in the mornings dictates what the rest of the days levels are going to be (on an average day), ie it's ALL about the fasting levels determining the overall result but impacted by food levels. So, I wonder if your fasting levels have risen and that has impacted on your own basal insulin overall and is therefore reflected in your pre & post meals? I'm almost confusing myself but bolus & basal requirements complement each other with the main man being the fasting/basal levels followed by the food/bolus impact. x

A very good way to look at things @Robbity

Sounds like you’re already getting back on top of things.

You are doing fine, @Robbity .
You know what caused the slight increase, and it is hardly surprising in current circumstances. You will sort it for next time.

Well, you know what caused a rise and what to do about it, so I'm sure you'll be fine in the future.

I'm not on any diabetic meds, purely diet controlled, so I'm not sure that I'd have the same sort of control that insulin can give?

My fasting levels have usually tended to be a bit higher with levels coming down during the day presumably as I use up any glucose floating around, and are usually lowest pre evening meal. This was the first pattern I saw after I'd started testing.

My assumption about what's going on is that the stress, etc have raised my levels and are keeping them up and often erratic overall, so yes I'm seeing some higher fasting figures, but low carbing is still keeping my post meal increase to similar figures (i.e. around 2 mmol) that I get under more "normal" circumstances when I was really expecting - perhaps mistakenly! - to see more random results there too.

Great attitude @Robbity its easy to be thrown off by a slightly higher result but it’s life and stress so to be expected at least you know why and can make changes. Well done
