For the first ever, i received an open packet of insulin cartridges.

The ones with 5 cartridges in a pack, i only had 3. With a sticker to pick up the rest later.

I've had this happen with full packs, been told they will order them in, but never been given a pack that is already open with cartridges missing.
As someone else picked up the prescription, i didn't know until later.

Is this normal?? It seems very strange to me. What happened to the other 2 cartridges? Is the insulin safe to use?
Has anybody else ever had this happen?

Sometimes GPs write prescriptions for 1 or 2 cartridges as a back up for someone on a pump.... So I literally got given 1 cartidge as a back up when I was on a pump.. So that would have meant that somebody at some point may well have a pack only containing 4!
I have it with tamoxifen.. The packet comes with 30 in it but the GP prescribes 28. So I had a full 10 pack removed and 4 lots of 2 tablets put in to make it 28. Obviously others getting from GP have 2 taken out each time and the odd two's get made up to 28....

So long as the seals weren't damaged I personally if it were me use them.

Although recently I picked up a pack of insulin that was foreign with english stickers put over it and I wouldn't use them! All the others were in english boxes. So I guess I'm a bit of a hypocrite! I can just recall someone saying something about foreign insulin.

As DD says Don't worry about it. The pharmacist is taking care of you by making sure you have some insulin even if it wasn't for the full amount.

Oh. OK that's cool. It just seemed really odd. I actually missed an injection because i wasn't sure about it, i will try to catch up now! Thanks.
