I find Levemir better for my needs as it allows for finer customization and does not last full 24 hours. I typically inject just just 4 units at bedtime. This covers the night and morning. However, in the evening my body for some reason needs less insulin and so it is quite convenient that Levemir fades away by that time.Interesting. Did you change to levemir and start low carb at the same time, or did you have any lagtime between? What did you experience?
And what happens if you go for a short walk after bolusing 1,5u, will it crash totally?
Your second point reminds of having to walk once for 15 minutes after dinner and going hypo after a carb loaded meal with just two units of insulin.
After I have switched to low-carb high-fat diet these things do not occur anymore. I can easily inject 1.5 units of insulin, my usual dose, and go for a walk. I may go a little bit low but not hypo. I think eating more fat made all the difference. Please note that I tend to avoid saturated fats and eat mostly monosaturated fats.
Give it a try and let us know the results.
