I am a 36 year old Type 1 diabetic and have been since 1992. There is no family history of Glaucoma but in late 2014, after a routine eye check, the Eye Clinic told me the pressures in both my eyes were quite high (around 26-28) and that this could be a symptom of Glaucoma. The Consultant said it is called optic hypertension and prescribed some eye drops for me. I tried several different types of eye drops and none of them were really helping. I resorted to Googling the condition to see if there was anything natural I could take to lower the pressures. I came upon a couple of websites which said that a herb called Coleus Forskohlin (Forskohlii Root) was good to bring down the pressures in the eyes as well as taking Omega 3/6/9 capsules so I bought some and have been on it for over a year. I take one tablet every other day as they have quite bad laxative effects!! I know it was naughty but I took a chance and stopped taking the eye drops as they were aggravating my eyes (I'm a contact lens wearer and I found I couldn't wear my contact lenses with the drops).

Anyway, long story short, I went and had my pressures checked last March (2015) when I'd been on the tablets for a short time. The pressures were the lowest they had been in a long time (even while I was taking the drops they were never this low), I was 21 in one eye and 22 in the other. I have just had another check up today and was amazed that they had dropped again to 18 in one eye and 20 in the other (both within normal range!).

I wanted to share my experience in case anyone else had this problem. Instead of Omega 3 now I tend to take 1000mg of Evening Primrose oil capsules instead as I had heard these were also good for the eyes. Not too sure if that's what's made even more of a difference. The fish oils usually repeat on me and were not very pleasant!

Anyway, I am VERY happy with the results!! :-)

That's very interesting @Spicey245. I too have been for a routine eye check this week and have been told that the pressure in my left eye was on the high side. I've got to go back in a months time to have it rechecked. Do you still take the Coleus Forshohlin as well as the Evening Primrose? How long did you take it before there was a difference in your eye pressures?

The Evening Primrose may also help with my hormones, which seem to play havoc with my sugar levels every month!

Many thanks

@Spicey245 Hey thanks.... I was in the Far East 10 years ago and the optician thought I had optic hypertension too but was eventually found to be a false alarm....

Bu I shall invest in some Forshoklii Root.

Hi, I got the tablets online, think it was Amazon, company is called Troo Health Care, Forskolin 250-Max. 250mg (20%) 120 capsules in a tub. My eye pressures are completely normal now! :-) I still take it but not every day as it does have quite bad laxative effects (sorry if tmi!). ;-)

I've had diabetes type 2 for 10 years. I'm a male & now 68. I've never ever had the slightest problem. BUT one month ago my eyes started seeing all in double near or far. Eye doctors said it was a combination of stress, too high blood sugar levels & high blood pressure. No treatment was given & they say that from 6 weeks up to maybe 6 months the double vision will eventually rectify itself. But I am so worried as I cannot drive any more & seeing all in double is so confusing. Strange thing is that using just any one eye is fine but they will not work together. Specialist said that it seems a nerve to my eye is paralysed.
Has anyone had that problem & can give me some advice please? Specialist also said NOT to just use one eye but to use both together, even tho' all is in double.
