Optimum GLucose Levels

I am a new user on this site and wanted to hear from people about glucose levels. I am Type 2 diabetic, previously on 4 x 500mg Metformin daily, but as my diabetes was poorly controlled, I have now started on 40mg Gliclizide as well.

I just wanted some comments about BG levels for Type 2 Diabetics, after fasting and 2 hours after eating and is there an expectation that we achieve the same levels upon testing, as a non-diabetic person would get?

Thanks

Hi RollerGirl,

Welcome to the forum.

The information that you are after is included in this article that is for newly diagnosed diabetics.

Some of us can get non diabetic levels but many cannot. It is not a sign of failure but a lot depends on how long you have had this condition prior to diagnosis and the state of your pancreas. Age, stress, other conditions and other variables dictate how well we manage this disease. We are all different and respond differently to foods. Any improvement should be celebrated.
