Optium Xceed query?

I was given a replacement meter recently...the Optium Xceed...but I'm having constant problems with the lancets not seeming to fit in it properly. Both were on prescription, so I'm sure they are meant to go together but if I push the lancet all the way into the holder, it doesn't reach out of the "pen" far enough to prick my finger. I therefore have to pull the lancet out a bit more to get it to work properly and I'm finding it exceedingly tricky to get it just right. Often it then pricks my finger too fiercly. Obviously I've tried adjusting the number dial on the pen but even on maximum number, if the lancet is pushed right in, it won't come out far enough to prick my finger. IYSWIM. Is anyone having a similar problem, please?

The reason they changed my meter was because they stopped making the lancets to fit it, so I can't use that. Funnily enough my husband (he doesn't have diabetes, so don't know why he got it) received a voucher for a half-price meter at Llyoyd's pharmacy....for a Lifescan One-Touch Ultra-Easy. I decided to treat myself and buy one of those. Lancet seems better but it's odd that once all the bits and bobs are put into the carrying pouch, it will hardly close.The little drum container that holds the test strips makes it very bulky to close. I don't think people who make these things actually try everything out before marketing a product. Daft!
