Hi everyone,

I have been using the Optium Xceed for... well, since I was diagnosed type 1 7 years ago I think. The other day I used another tester and noticed that when there is not enough blood on the strip it will throw an error so that your only option is to use a new strip. I thought that was odd as on the Optium Xceed you have all the time in the world to squeeze that micro blob of blood out of your finger. This got me thinking why one manufacturer thinks it is worth wasting a test strip and one not when the underlying technology for these strips must be identical?! So as a little experiment I tried 2 scenarios with the Optium Xceed. One involved putting the correct amount first time round and the other was a bit of blood, very small pause, then the rest. The results were very different! If you don't get the right amount of blood first time round the level displayed will be lower that you actually are!

Little warning for any Xceed users, get the right amount first time round.
